VISITOR'S
GUIDE TO LEEDS |
|
|
With a collapsing
industry it looked like this Northern town could have
been buried in the memories of its manufacturing past,
but thanks to a serious revamp and upgrade of the city
centre, Leeds has been transformed into a cultural and
commercial success.
Visitors come from far and wide to experience the diversity
of this city, recently named in the top 5 of the UK’s
best entertainment capitals. Designer shops pack the
city centre and names such as Harvey Nichols [map]
and Vivien Westwood [map]
line the Victoria Quarter, but there’s still room
for a wide variety of museums and cultural sights.
Leeds was one of the first places in the North to embrace
City Living and those with lofty ambitions should look
out for some architecturally unique abodes.
A bustling business capital that clings to the Southern
edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Leeds is home to the “big
five” accountancy firms and attracts young graduates
from across the UK. Leeds is also a thriving student town
and has two widely-respected universities: The Leeds
University [map]
and Leeds Metropolitan University [map],
which are both north-west of the City Centre.
