Say
Leeds and sport to anyone with an interest in the subject
and their immediate response will be “Headingley”,
and although the famous cricket ground continues to be
a real tourist attraction, there’s more to Leeds
sport than the sound of leather on willow.
Leeds United continues to be ahead of the game
and there’s also the rising stars of the Leeds
Rhinos, one of the top Rugby League teams.
Rugby League has become a real family event and those
heading to Leeds now have another reason to visit Headingley
and check out the stadium.
If you’re look for something different and a little
more extreme, check out The
Works Skate and BMX Park, based at Hunslet in
the centre of Leeds, watch or join in the super tricks.
With the Yorkshire Dales close by cycle
enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the opportunity to experience
life in the fast lane and enjoy some mud and mayhem on
one of the many natural trails.
More unusual sports such as skydiving and mountain-boarding
have really taken off in Leeds, and there’s clubs
on the outskirts of the city offering tourists the opportunity
to have a go.
If you hanker after a more serene and gentle sport, visit
one of the regions golf courses and enjoy a relaxing
day, coupled with some amazing scenery. |
